Ok. i am getting a new tent. i need a SAFE source of light, that does Not use fire. So i cannot use a lantern because i dont want to die yet. Anyway, i am camping in a backyard, so could i bring a lamp with no lamp shade in there, or is it unsafe?

  1. get a led headlamp. You can use it when needed, direct the light exactly where needed and keep your hands free. Plus you wont look like a moron dragging a cord out to your tent for your lamp.

  2. They make battery operated lanterns that are really cool and bright, my friend had one, by coleman I think.  Its super durable and not dangerous at all.  I don't think they are that expensive either.

  3. I'd suggest to use the kerosne lights, but don't use them inside of your tent. Use a flashlight!

  4. Lamp...unsafe.

Get a battery powered latern at Wal Mart. They cost around $10.00 or less and should meet you needs.

  5. A lamp with no lampshade is unsafe if it gets knocked over. They make lanterns that are like flashlights that run off batteries.

Keep the lamp shade on..... and dont put anything ontop of a lampshade - thats dangerous too.

  6. Do not use a lamp with no lamp shade.  That is dangerous.  You are using electricity.  Use a flashlight.  You can get a big flashlight at the hardware store.  That's the best bet.  :)

  7. A light stick will do the trick.

    (The ones divers use underwater)

  8. it is safe the only reason it would not be safe if either the bulb got way too hot like on for 5 hours of if there were a water source that touched the electricity then it would cause a lot of trouble!! so it is SAFE!!!

  9. go to walmart and buy the electric lamps. they sorta look like a lamp but they use a bulb and battery. made by Cullman

  10. When ever I was camping I always just brought my lantern(flame) in with me into my tent. I do not think that you would run into any problems unless you had a really small pup tent or one man tents, that was completely silled up where no fresh air could enter.

If you are still concerned about the possible toxic fumes that could be released into the tent, a flashlight is always a safe way to go

or an even safer way to go is to go camping when it is a full moon out, I like this way the best because with all the light around then you cant enjoy looking up at the stars at night      ( this is my favorite part of camping aside from roasting marsh mellows)

  11. use high efficency/compact flouresent (the swirly ones) light bulbs they create no heat

  12. it is safe
