A spyware detected your computer?

Question

For my windows wallpaper there is something that says

a spyware detected on your computer install and antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer

and then under that it says

warning Win32\adware.virumode

warning Win32\privacyRemover.m64

help what do i do?

Sounds like you got vitumonde you're going to have to run a virus scan and if that doesn't catch it use these removal instructions.

go to bleepingcomputers.com they are the greatest at solving all kinds of problems..they are a free service and will help you..it may take a day or so for someone to get back to you but i have to tell you they are well worth the wait..good luck

Automated Removal Instructions for the Vundo or Virtumonde infection using VundoFix:

1. Please print these instructions as they will be needed later when Internet access is not available.

2. Save these instructions in word or notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found.

3. Download Vundo Fix and save it to your desktop.

4. When it has completed downloading, double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

5. Click the Scan for Vundo button.

6. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

7. You will now receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click the YES button. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

8. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click the OK button.

9. When the computer has shutdown, turn your computer back on.

The WinFixer and Vundo infection should now be removed from your computer.

If you are still having a problem then please perform the following steps:

Note: This step should only be used if the instructions in the previous steps did not remove the infection:

1. Download VirtumundoBegone and save it to your desktop.

2. Now reboot into Safe Mode.

2. You will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode.

3. Select safe mode with networking using your arrow keys on the keyboard and then press enter.

4. When you computer reaches the desktop make sure you log in as the same user which you had performed the previous steps,

3. Once you are logged into safe mode, double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe file you just downloaded and follow the instructions.

4. Exit when it has finished, and reboot back to normal mode.

You have a mailware infection.  Download Malwarebytes  http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and scan your computer.  The real time protection is only available in the paid for version but the removal scan is fully functional.

Once you have removed the infections keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

Try these steps they may not be exact to the book but they will be similar.

First you will neanti virus this

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan

Then you need to go to

start run and then type gpedit.msc

Then go to

User configuration>Control panel>Display and then for the following:

Hide desktop tab

Prevent changing wallpaper

Hide appearance tab

Hide screen table tab

(double click) and set to disabled

The ENABLE screen saver

This will get rid of the virus and un hide your desktop tabs. DON'T TRY TO CHANGE WALLPAPER WHEN YOU HAVE THE VIRUS STILL ACTIVE
