A strong 18-man field for the 2012 World Golf Challenge
It could not be any bigger than this! A stellar field of eighteen men will take to the field at the Sherwood Country Club, in Thousand Oaks, to participate in the 2012 World Golf Challenge.
This year’s World Golf Challenge will feature two players from the winning European Ryder Cup team, Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter.
The Irishman, McDowell also won the 2010 World Challenge, beating Tiger Woods.
Apart from that, there are eleven players from the US Ryder Cup team, who will be vying for the $1 million prize.
The reigning FedEx Cup champion, Brandt Snedeker and Masters champion Bubba Watson are also among the players who will take to the field on 28th November.
The event will be benefiting Tiger Woods Foundation, as most of the money earned via the tournament goes in to the charity.
Apart from Tiger Woods, the likes of Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Dustin Johnson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk, who won this title in 2009, will be featuring in this year’s event as well.
Other players who are in the field this year are Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Bo Van Pelt and Nick Watney.
"We are extremely excited about the depth and talent of our field, and are looking forward to another exciting tournament," Woods said in the announcement on the Tiger Woods Foundation website.
"Northwestern Mutual has been a great partner to my Foundation over the years, and we are pleased they will take on the role of presenting sponsor".
This year’s field comprises a total of 19 PGA Tour winners, who are led by Tiger Woods with three titles this year.
Sherwood Golf and Country Club is designed by none other than the great Jack Nicklaus. The tournament has had numerous sponsors in the past but this year Northwestern Mutual will be sponsoring the World Golf Challenge.
"We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of this year's World Challenge to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation," said John E. Schlifske, Chairman and CEO of Northwestern Mutual.
Tiger Woods is currently the defending champion of the tournament. The 2012 World Golf Challenge boasts prize money of $5 million, with $1 million going to the winner of the event.
