im looking for a strong female thief in manga or anime. or just a girl who can stand up for herself. im sick and tired of the weak wimpy girls. so please if you know of one PLEASE tell me!!!!!!!!

Bleach has plenty of strong women, infact all of the women in bleach are strong except for rukia in the beginning but that wasnt because she was weak. The strongest one (in my opinion) is Yoruichi ShihÃƒÂ…Ã‚Âin who could kick *** even as a cat :3.

If you really want to see strong female charaters read Claymore, I think there is like only 3 strong guys (counting people yet to be revealed) everyone else are girls :3.

Saya from Blood+,although she did rely on others from time to time,she had her own mind and kicked a$$ in battle!!

Some of the girls from Bleach....I think Kuukaku Shiba and Yoruichi-san(as mentioned)are the most independent ones....Maybe Soi Fong too.

Revy (Black Lagoon), she has a nickname ''two hands'' because she walks around carrying two beretta 9mm's and on top of that she punches every bit as hard as a man.

Strong female characters:

Kino - Kino's Journey (young girl who dresses androgynously and owns at pretty much everything)

Faye Valentine - Cowboy Bebop (bounty hunter.  No real special traits, she just knows how to use them well)

Revy - Black Lagoon (expert gunman)

Sakaki - Azumanga Daioh (just a well developed character)

Haruko Haruhara - FLCL (Crazy ************)

Rushuna Tendo - Grenadier (another expert gunman... seems to be a trend.  The anime is mediocre and very fanservice heavy though)

Most of these are pretty good shows overall too.

A thief though?  Maybe the girl from One Piece.  Thats the only thief I can think of...

Also, honestly I find that too many "strong" women just utterly fail at some point so that the male lead can save them.  Bleach for example: Rukia is supposed to be strong, yet she constantly has to be saved by everyone else....

EDIT: Ahh, forgot about Ghost in the Shell.  The Major is quite the strong female.

There are plenty of strong female characters out there. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a thief though. Closest I can come to is Lina Inverse from The Slayers. I suppose you can sorta consider her a thief. =P

If Final Fantasy 7 were an anime, there's Yuffie.

tsukushi makino from boys over flowers (hana yori dango)

she fights off rich guys, has a deep self respect, and works hard to support her family and herself all while attending a rich highschool where people constantly berate her. shes very tough and likeable. never needs a man.
