A subtle way to find out someone's ring size?

So one of my friends assigned me to find out my other friends ring size asap since he needs to order her birthday gift. how do i subtly ask her over im or text what her size is? i need help making up a lie cause im horrible at it!!!

I did that once.  I did it by saying that I was thinking of buy a ring online but I didn't know my ring size and then asking her for hers "to compare" to try to figure out mine.  It worked great, she never suspected anything.

start talking bout the future and how she wants her wedding ring to look. then be like wats ur ring size it worked for my bf wen he did it ti me.

does your friend have more contact than just im or txt? he could "borrow" one of her rings from her jewelery box and measure it himself, then slip it back.

can just steel one of her rings or take her shopping with you and go like Clare's or some cheap jewelry store and be trying on the rings and be all like hmm my ring size 8 i never new that what yours?

It is always best to have it sized professionally afterwards.

Wear a ring and say "Oh see my new ring I got." Take it off and show it to them and say "try it on". Then just make general talk like "it's size 6..so what size do you wear?"

say your doing a research paper on the average ring size in america, and ask her what her's is.

The best bet is to ask the girls Mom.
