A successful rookie year comes to an end for Ted Potter Jr.
Ted Potter Jr.’s season came to a close when he finished T69th at the Deutsche Bank Open. A T69 finish meant that he failed to qualify for the BMW Championship, as his FedEx ranking slipped to over 70.
Missing out for the BMW Championship will not bother Potter much as he had a successful year and he now needs a well deserved break. Being a rookie on the tour and qualifying for the next PGA tour, is really something to be proud of.
Potter earned a total of $1,372.548 which is 54th best on the tour. Considering the fact that the top 125 players qualify for the next year and Potter, being a rookie, finished at the 54th place is really an amazing feat.
Ted also finished 93rd in the FedEx Cup standings. Staying inside the top 125 was needed to retain the PGA tour card for the next season and he has managed to do that as well. He must be proud of himself.
Potter made 12 cuts out of the 23 events in which he featured but his highlight of the year is most certainly the Greenbrier Classic.
On July 8, Potter secured his future on the PGA Tour when he won the Greenbrier Classic. His progress was not that good before the tournament. He was ranked 173rd on FedEx Cup rankings, his victory came as a surprise to everybody.
Now that his season is over, there are numerous things that he can do. He can either chose to take some rest from the busy schedule and re-energise himself for the next season or he can play on the small tours to further improve his game.
Potter’s next PGA Tour event will be in January at Hyundai tournament of Champions - a tournament in which only the PGA Tour winners take part.
However, before that, he can take part in the PGA Tour fall series event, which runs from October 4 to November 11. Although this will not be as competitive as the PGA Tour but he will certainly remain in the game.
He could also consider playing in some of the Nationwide tour events.
