I'm a medical student in Spain and I want to spend a summer month in a hospital training in one of the specialities mentioned above. How can I do that? Any contacts? Last year I ask for a similar information and you really helped me to prepare my elective. I hope you can help me again this year. Thanks a million

  1. sounds like a blast. I'm jealous.

  2. I would suggest creating a kind of template letter explaining your background and what it is you want to do in each place, then search for derm, pediatrics, or psychiatry schools in these countries and e-mail a lot of professors asking for suggestions or help.  In each e-mail simply edit the name of the country/univ you're e-mailing wherever it's written in the template...as well as the area you're interested in studying; this way the person you're e-mailing thinks you're specifically interested in their program.  It may take a couple of hours but sending out 20-30 e-mails will get you responses from people who either know contacts, can help you personally, or are not able to help you at this time.  I have been searching for an internship abroad this summer in several different countries at a PT clinic for a couple of months and this is what I did.  I found it very useful and I eventually got what I needed, it takes some time at first but the more you send the more responses you will get.  Also have make a template e-mail if they ask for more info on what it is you're looking for, I found that I needed to do that because I got sick of repeating he same thing, haha.  You will get the hang of it after getting a few responses and see that you're writing the same thing over and over!  Best of luck and be patient!
