I am in tenth grade at a public high school. I am experiencing trouble with a teacher.

This teacher is 2 years out of college. This is her second year teaching and she is instructing my AP English 10 class. She moves at an extremely fast pace and assigns homework most nights. We read a new novel every three weeks and usually have a very large project due when we finish a novel. However, this is not my problem - the class is great, my problem is the teacher.

The first day of class i overheard her telling another english teacher that my class was 'a bunch of snobs who only want to look good for colleges.' She is extremely opinionated and often closes discussions if they are not going the way she wants. When ever I raise my hand during a debate, she heaves an enormous sigh, looks at me disgustedly, and says, "what NOW?" in this extremely condascending way. It is discouraging to me as a student, i feel like i am not learning anything.

Can anyone help me find a way to deal with her?

  1. I have a terrible English teacher also. You should just give her a nice card for teacher appreciation week or just some time. In it you should say that it is nice to learn from her and say she is a good teacher. YOu should also add not to tell any classes about that. (embarrising) That may sound like a suck up but sometimes thats what you got to do. She may be nicer to you.

  2. Well, it is nice to give something to a teacher only if they deserve it. I'll be teaching pretty soon as well in about 5 more months and I know what you mean because my philosophy is to think as a student before as a teacher. Talk to her in private it and tell this teacher this:

Tell your teacher that you really like her class and that you would appreciate very much to be known if you could do more in her class. That as well as her, you also want to succeed and get the best out of her teachings.

That way my friend, you'll make her feel like an idiot because you went up to her like a grown young adult that you are and you make her feel as though she's doing a great job (even though she's being a real pain).

Let me know how it goes. Good luck I know what you mean because we have those kind of people everywhere.
