A team,e.g. baseball, wins gold. Is the medal counted as One(1)? or are the golds counted for each ?

  1. it is counted as one. wierd enough, a whole lot of guys have to share just one gold medal

  4. Whenever a team wins gold, it only counts as one in the rankings.

There's no official medal count, only an informational count published by the IOC and the different medal counts published in the media.  Some bloggers and others have also created their own lists.  In most recognized published lists, a team medal is counted only once.  But anyone is free to create their own medal count and weight team medals as they see fit, and some people do.
