10 ft.  The teepee diameter is 12 ft. the radius is 6 ft the height is 8 ft.  Using the pathagram therum (not sure of spelling) you would have 6 sq + 8 sq = 10 sq.

Actually the stringers should be a few feet longer, maybe 12-13', as they need to cross each other at the top of the teepee so they can be lashed together with rawhide.
