both working and non working people can get welfare.. I am so sick of this "people are too lazy to work c**p".. some people would not work no matter what..this is true.. but I worked full time, went to school full time and raised a disabled child alone while having multiple health problems.. I got welfare because I needed a little extra help with things. People only get welfare checks for 2 years LIFETIME and on 2 kids maximum so trying to live on welfare is really stupid..Then the most you get in AR is $212 a month for 2 kids.. so to answer your question.. both people get it and just because you get it does not mean you are lazy

The welfare system has become nothing more than a hand out...

It was meant to be a help not a way of life.

You know nothing about it my friend.  Welfare is mostly for single mothers (and sometimes fathers) who were desserted by the other parent.  Welfare requires 32 hours or such of activity a week, meaning work or school, meaning you cant be lazy.  Plus there is a 5 year time limit.  Injured people get disability.

People who cannot work get what is know as a Disability check which falls under SSI.  The welfare system was created to help people who have been put down by the man.
