  1. Gee Matt, those are some great ideas, no wonder they were invented decades ago... well, more than a century ago, in the case of the waterfall.

    Here's my idea:  take a simple stationary bicycle and attach a 3 kilowatt AC generator core to it.  Get Matt to pedal.  Patch it in to his power grid and allow him to sell the energy into the power grid like they do for people who own homes with solar panels.  That way, he can quit his job at Wal-Mart and watch cartoons all day!


  2. How about... somehow harvesting the energy from seismic activity in areas that are near active fault lines. Not exactly sure how they'd do it, but there is definitely lots of potential energy from earthquakes and small seismic activity.

    P.S. This may already be done, I have no idea.

  3. The ocean. It covers so much of the earth, and the beach could harness so much energy. Waves along with the incoming tide could work. If we only found a way to harness that. Not just beaches but every major waterfall you could think of.
