Lille’s goalkeeper Mickael Landreau is not get carried away by his team’s appreciable start to the season than PSG’s, as he reckon Sunday’s match against PSG as a big challenge at hand
Landreau is aware of the potential threat PSG can pose as Lille host this year’s potential title contenders at Stade Borne de l’Espoir. PSG has become a dominant football force in recent times, and have assembled a mega rich squad under the manager Carlo
Ancelotti.
The recent off-season activity has seen the arrival of prominent figures like Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi to the Paris side. The arrival of these highly-rated players has led people to widely tip PSG as the potential title winners
this season.
However, despite acquiring the services of the highly paid players, PSG have not been able to make an instant impact and currently languish in the bottom half of the table.
However, like everyone else, Landreau also tips PSG as favourites to ultimately land the coveted trophy in France. Lille’s official website quoted the shot-stopper as, “This club (PSG) has a chance for the championship of France”.
The 33-year-old added, “It shows that the greatest players can now aspire to evolve in Ligue 1, which was not previously the case. This is an interesting challenge to try to compete with.”
However, he was optimistic about Sunday’s clash and termed his team ready enough to challenge PSG as he was quoted saying, “It is a big challenge to face. On the other hand, I know that we can count on the unconditional support of the faithful who support
us throughout the year.”
In a major boost for Rudi Garcia’s men, PSG will be without their star forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, as he serves his two-match suspension following his sending off against Bordeaux earlier in the season.
According to PSG’s defender, Sylvain Armand, Lille will be all out to grab the 3 points to shrug off the pressure of hectic schedule over the few weeks. And this according to the 32-year-old, might pay dividends for PSG, as his side attempts to search for
the loop-holes whilst the opponents attack.
