what is inertia and how does it cause movement to running train.can any one explain based on day to day seen example in our daily life

  1. Inertia is the propensity for an object in motion to stay in motion and an object at rest to stay at rest.  As you ride in a car, when the car turns to one side, you lean because of the tendency of your motion to continue on in the same direction.

    So, once the train gets going, it tends to keep going if the wheels turn.  There is some friction, but it is not as intense as an auto's wheels to the ground.

  2. That answer is not entirely true.

    A train does move using friction between the wheels and track, when accelerating and braking however it also relies on Inertia.

    Inertia is, simply put:

    "In an isolated system, a body at rest will remain at rest and a body moving with constant velocity will continue to do so, unless disturbed by an unbalanced force""

    Its fairly straight forward. In the case of the train, it will remain at rest until a force is applied, in this case the friction between the wheels does help in both acceleration and braking. However once it is moving, it will continue to move in the same direction and at the same speed until an outside force acts upon it (obviously things like friction and wind resistance will have some effect).

    The train uses the principles of inertia to propel its large mass forward with very little force - once its going (this may be the reason why most train tracks rarely curve, to keep its forward momentum up)

  3. The tendency for an object in motion to stay in motion.You still need friction to start movement of the train . So your statement is incorrect With no friction an object will not move without an outside force or influence.Car on ice driver hit gas hard no friction between ice and tire no movement . Same car on ice doing 40 mph driver hit brakes hard no friction car moves on.

  4. In my physics class in highschool my teacher explained it when he put his hand aginst a students head and asked him to push and when he moved his hand the student moved his head forward the energy he had moving forward had to go somewhere.
