It was told to me in Spanish, so I'll use random names for it. The names aren't important.

Carl likes Carla. Carl hates anyone who hates Carla. Carla hates herself. Does this mean Carl hates Carla?

  1. No, because Carl say he hates -anyone- who hates Carla.  Because Carla is heself she would not be put in the category of anyone.  So, Carl does not hate Carla.

  2. depends on his mood

  3. No, because Carla doesn't really hate herself. No-one hates themself...

  4. Yea. Pretty much. (it can be a lovs/hate relationship) :D

  5. no because carl likes carla like stated in the very beginning. good try.

  6. no

  7. my head hurts. :[

  8. Carl = Carla

    Carl x Haters

    Carla = haters

    Carl x Carla

    hmmm...

This is one of those layered explanation theory things!!

Umm, I'm going to say no, because it's a trick question. But the logical answer is yes.

  9. doesn't make sense, your contradicting yourself

    1.carl likes carla

2.carl hates any1 who hates carla

    3.carla hates herself

    kinda backfired on yourself

  10. they are the same person...

  11. no, you just said carl likes carla

  12. Carl has multi-personality disorder and Carla is just him dressed up in a red-sequined dress and stiletto pumps.

The fact of the matter is there is no way to logically discern the answer, so your question fails on its premises.  You can essentially answer anything and claim that its right, but no matter what the answer, it will still fail to meet at least one of the conditions of the question (assuming that likes/hates are mutually exclusive, which I believe according to common consensus and the nature of the question, they are).  If they weren't you could say "Carl likes Carla" or vice versa, and the statement just wouldn't mean anything...unless it was opposite day.

  13. Trick question. Carl's head explodes.

  14. I would say yes.
