A wake up game for the Lakers; ready to play against Miami Heat on Christmas: Milwaukee Bucks has defeated the NBA champ, Los Angeles Lakers with 98-79 on their homeland on Tuesday night. The distressing beat surprised the basketball lovers
whereas Los Angeles Lakers left shamed. The Lakers are back in eminent environs after achieving five wins of their last six games. The Lakers side didn't seem stable after losing a key player Brandon Jennings due to serious foot injury.
Earl Boykins was the highest scorer with 22 points from the Bucks side; John Salmons and Ersan Ilyasova were the other major scorers with 20 and 17 points. The thrilling visiting team was playing its second game after dropping Jennings for about a month
due to his left foot injury.
During game play when the team had advanced to 11-16, the head coach of the Milwaukee side affirmed that to strengthen their lead they always appeared to shake as they were able to deliver some big games. At such a place they need to beat Lakers and we would
definitely win the contest with Earl Boykins tonight, coach added.
Injuries in the Bucks team also sidelined the three main players Corey Maggette, Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden and stopped the six successive lost from the Lakers side. Pau Gasol scored 15 points with 11 rebounds whereas Odom was also prominent with 12 points
and 10 rebounds. Los Angeles is knocked down to 21-8 for the season.
Phil Jackson, the coach of the Lakers side expressed his feelings bluntly and said that the defeat is a wake-up game for the Lakers. He also said that they can’t show any worse performance than that. The Lakers players started playing individual game and stand
about with no moves because the opponents showed a perfect defensive game. Jackson told his team players to put their feet up and stay home on Wednesday.
The Bucks side had been beaten in the last three games; they exposed a superb start and lead the Lakers by 7 points twice before closing the first quarter. Players like Shannon Brown and Matt Barnes provided support from the benches and motivated in retaining
stable position of Los Angeles side in the early minutes of second quarter, before a sloppy spell got them losing 50-46 at half period of the game.
The Lakers side again tried to scrape and fight back in the game. At one moment the point score tied with Gasol shot at 63-63, before closing the third quarter with Bucks' unrequited lead. With a striking triumph from Bucks side, the Lakers team was being shushed
by sections of the sell-out spectators, as Milwaukee presented an inspiring finish.
It is to be noted that the reserve guard Earl Boykins was turned out from the game because of his second technical foul in the game play. Boykins has proved his brilliant role in Bucks victory by making a pair of three pointers two times that was the biggest
of that night.
The Bucks will be facing Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night whereas the Lakers as usual on Christmas will play against Miami Heat which is the toughest team with a player like LeBron James. Since 1999 the Lakers have been playing on Christmas Day regularly and
it will be twelfth consecutive game for them.
On the other side the Lakers coach, Phil Jackson is quite excited to play on Christmas day but according to Jackson, NBA’s Christmas schedule shows hypocrisy. He said they were ready to play as their work is to show the best so they will entertain the TV on
this meaningful day.
