My ex-husband was caught doing at least thirty over the speed limit. He got a ticket that he never paid. I believe he has a warrant out for him, but he has gotten pulled over several times with no arrests made. Does that make any since

  1. Just call the county court system and ask.  It is public information.

  2. It will depend...

Some traffic tickets result in a warrant if unpaid, others don't.

Some warrants are not extraditable from other jurisdictions, and thus your husband getting pulled over will not necessarily result in him being arrested.

Some cops are lazy and will either not run folks they pull over, or if they do ignore a minor warrant.

  3. then there must not be a warrant for him.

have you verified with law enforcement that there IS a warrant out, or is this something that you WISH was out on him?

  4. It depends on where he was pulled over at. As another poster put it, it's not that we are lazy and don't want to pick them up, it's that warrants have a radius attached to them. Depends on the crime or ticket, but certain warrants have certain "pick up radius" on them. that means depending on the warrant we will only go so far to get them.

  5. How long ago was this? The ticket he got that he didnt pay-how long ago was that? There is always a chance that maybe it was so far back in the past that maybe they just threw it out.

Or he could just be lucky.

  6. I knew a guy who had several failure to appear warrants out for his arrest, but was pulled over several times before he was actually arrested.

The police who are pulling him over are probably just being lazy and not checking to see if he has any warrants out.

  7. I think that you should do 2 things:

    1. Find out if there is a warrant.

    2. Advise him to pay the ticket fine.

See the link below for ways to find out about arrest warrants. If he does have one then contact a lawyer to find out what he should do next.

  8. If all of these things occurred in the same state, then I have no explanation save that the state is incompetent, but if some of these events happened in other states, the most plausible explanation is that not all states are reciprocal in terms of sharing such information.  However, just to cover his butt, your ex ought to get that old ticket paid.
