Question:

A warrant for my arrest! :(

My identity has been stolen. It's been going on since 2004. I've faced many hurdles with this and I've come to a bigger one. I lived in Florida previously, I opened a checking account. A few weeks later I noticed suspicious activity so I closed the account ASAP. A year later I get a letter saying there is a warrant for my arrest due to bad checks on that account. I never even ordered checks for that account, or from that bank. I spoke with someone in the worthless check division who said I could send them my police report. Unfortunately my police report was vauge (as is the case with idenity theft police reports) so she DIDN'T ACCEPT IT. I've moved, and I didn't live in FL at the time the check was written. This victim apparently IDed my drivers license picture as the check writer - That baffles me. I just don't know what to do. The State's Attorney's office said I can either 1-come to FL and be arrest (I live in WA) or plead no contest and pay up the butt. I really feel I've suffered enough and I'm just so upset. Do I have ANY other options besides being arrested or paying further for my identity being stolen?

  1. simply put you need to seek legal advice immediately as they will be able to ask for all information about you and get the proper answers.

then they can deal with your arrest warrant.

    good luck.

  2. Do not attempt to navigate this problem on your own. You need a lawyer to handle the case in Florida.

It will not be inexpensive, but you risk a criminal record that could affect the rest of your life if you fail to act.
