A washcloth just got flushed down the toilet how do i get it out?

  1. If you don't have one, buy or borrow a "shop vac" with a 2" dia hose and some good power (not a tiny one).  Wrap a old towel around the hose, stick it in the bottom of the bowl and let it suck the washcloth back in the canister.  My cleaning people clogged mine exactly like that and I did this and it unclogged in seconds.  Add more water to bowl to block flow of sewer air and that's it. You can get your washcloth from the inside of the shop vac.  Helps to have emptied the shop vac first.


  2. You could get a metal clothes hanger and take it apart, leave the curved end and stick it down the toilet bowl. usually the cloth stays in the trap so all you need to do is keep turning the hanger as you send it into the bowl eventually it will catch the cloth and you can pull it out

  3. If the toilet is running slow or plugged up, you may need to turn the water off and remove the toilet from the floor.  If the toilet is running smoothly, forget the washcloth. Good Luck!!
