Question:

A way to remove the redness after a pimple?

You know how when you get a pimple, and after it goes away... it leaves a red area behind? I don't get many pimples, except some on my chin every once-in-a-while, but those that I get always leave a red area. The problem is, that red area doesn't completely fade until after about a month. By that time I've got a new pimple that's come up. So, it's like I can never have a clear complexion.

Is there a way to remove or (at least) speed up the healing?'

Yes, I use acne medicine. Usually just the cream.

Also, any suggestions for acne products is appreciated. I don't have many problems except on my chin.

  1. Some people suggest Visine (yes, for the eyes) but I've never used it, so I can't say one way or the other.

Personally, I find that the long-term solution is Eucerin Redness Relief cream, because my skin is just red in general (I use the one with SPF 15, but I think they make a night cream without SPF and possibly another type).  If creams don't work for you, or you just need a quick fix, try buying a green concealer (I believe both Physician's Formula and Neutrogena make them, among other brands, I'm sure) because the green neutralizes the red.  Yellow apparently works, too, but I've always had better luck with green.

There are some lotions specifically made to fade acne marks (they claim to even skin tone after acne or diminish the look of after-acne scarring), but usually it's just that---fading marks, and it takes quite a while of continual use to see results.  These products are not intended to reduce redness, per se.  I never had much luck with them, and they always irritated my skin.

As far as acne products, benzoyl peroxide tends to bleach the skin and lessen redness, so look for a product with less than a 10% concentration of the ingredient.  Just be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after applying!

Hope that gives you some ideas!

  2. Well....thats a vicious cycle you've got into.Besides using the acne gel or cream REGULARLY you should perhaps also start taking grape seed extract capsules after your dinner everyday.

  5. The redness you're talking about is either post-acne mark/hyper pigmentation or scar. It's a MUST to apply sunscreen or sunblock on that area if you're going out in the sun or it will definitely turn into darkish brown color and will take years or forever to fade. I have a lot of them and since I didn't know any of whatever I mentioned just now, those brown marks are not even fading away . A lot of people suggested vitamin e  cream and aloe vera, I've been using both in the form of cream for almost 1 year but still no change. I guess you're supposed to use the PURE aloe vera and vitamin e cream. Now, what I can suggest you to do is apply sunblock and gently exfoliate that area ONCE in every week. Ambi face cream might work for post-acne mark since it contains hydroquinone (I'll be buying that) and so does mederma and bio-oil. I'd specially recommend ambi and if you're sure that it's a scar then you might as well try mederma. Good luck!

*edit- visine is not used to reduce the redness after pimple but the redness of the pimple.  If your redness is fresh or new (not lasting for months) then you still have a hope for using neutrogena acne mark fading peel. You can also look up to the reviews if you're doubting. I also found out something very useful and I can't wait to try it out myself!  http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm4424...
