http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergei-Semak-c32976 hails Zenit St. Petersburg’s Russian Premier League win against Lokomotiv Moscow and shows willingness to extend his contract at Petrovsky stadium
In the latest round of Russian Premier League action, Zenit St. Petersburg won 1-0 against Lokomotiv Moscow at Lokomotiv stadium. In a closely contested match, where both the sides had equal chances, the Meshki managed to extend
their lead atop the league table by winning the crunch league tie.
Zenit went on to celebrate the only goal of the match, as the host team missed from the penalty spot in the 38th minute. Latest Loko signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639 continued his miserable form, flashing the ball well wide
of the goal.
The St. Petersburg club have now extended their lead over the second placed CSKA Moscow to 11 points.
In the aftermath of the outcome, Sergei Semak expressed his satisfaction over the result. However, he warned his side against complacency and urged them to claim maximum points in the remaining matches of the campaign, if they
are to retain the league title this season.
The Bomzhi will play the upcoming league tie against the Armeytsy at Petrovsky stadium, and Semak admitted that they have a decent opportunity to get one step closer to the title by winning the upcoming match.
However, he revealed that a win in the upcoming match will not guarantee them anything until they extend their decent domestic run.
“We are glad with our progress but a win in the upcoming match against the Koni will not let us make premature celebrations. Now everything is very much in our hands but we need to be more careful now.” The Russian Cup winner was
quoted as saying.
Semak, whose contract will expire at the end of this year, expressed his desire to extend his stay with the Russian outfit.
“Of course, I would like to extend my contract at Petrovsky until at least the end of next season but neither I nor the club has talked to me over the issue.” He concluded.
