A1 winner has a Stroke of good Luck at Romford
In greyhound racing, a little luck and speed can go a long way, and that’s exactly what happened to Stroke Of Luck in the first of two 400m A1 races at Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium.
Stroke Of Luck (6-1) had a good start from trap four, moving quickly away from the pack, and always leading to take home the victory with a 24.47 finish. Behind him by only a ½ length
was 5-2 favourite Danrich Star, who placed second. He moved slowly away and bumped second, but ran on to finish in 24.51.
Barnfield Chubby (6-1) rounded out the top three with his third-place finish. He held an early pace from trap six, but bumped first, losing 3¾ lengths in the process. He finished the race
with a time of 24.81. Fourth place went to 11-4 long shot Rockafella Blue, who missed out on a top-three finish by a head’s length. He bumped second en route to a 24.82 finish.
Whitehart Rolo (3-1) was the fifth-place finisher. She bumped first and baulked second, which resulted in a 25.12 finish that was 3¾ lengths behind Rockafella Blue. Bringing up the rear
was Fabulous Thought (7-2), who baulked at the first bend and second. She completed the race 1½ lengths out of fifth place in 25.24.
Greenfield Pal was everyone’s pal after taking first place in the second A1 race of the afternoon. The 2-1 favourite had a bounding start from trap one, and challenged and led second to
finish the race in 24.49. Second place was claimed by Duleek Dazzler (7-2), who baulked three-quarters, but rebounded to finish 2½ lengths behind the winner in 24.69.
Huckies Rebel, the 10-1 long shot in this race, surprised many as he finished third. He moved quickly away, bumped first, and led to second en route to a 24.89 finish. A distance of 2½
lengths separated him from second place. Pows Tugboat (7-2) locked up a fourth-place finish after badly baulking first. His time of 24.91 placed him a neck behind third place.
The number five position went to Side Plate (5-1). Despite an early pace, he bumped first and would later challenge second. His time of 24.92 was just a shoulder behind Pows Tugboat. Last
place belonged to Bonville Johnny (5-2), who moved slowly away and baulked first. He finished in 25.02, 1¼ lengths out of fifth place.
Greyhound racing returns to Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium on Friday, 29 October. The first race of the evening begins at 19:30.
