A3 racer takes Another Stride to win at Sunderland
The racers at Tetley’s Sunderland Greyhound Stadium often make great strides to compete for the elusive first-place position in each 450m race. Another Stride’s close win in the first
of two A3 races on the schedule was the result of a series of great strides.
After a strong start from trap five, Another Stride (3-1) soon led the pack on the way to a first-place finish in 28.63. Claiming second place was Musidora (3-1), who held every chance
to win this race. She finished in 28.69, which was just ¾ lengths out of the top spot.
Emly Fawn, the 5-2 favourite, lost 1¼ lengths after bumping at the first bend. She went on to finish in third place with a time of 28.79. Fourth-place finisher Lisneal Blue (4-1) crowded
first and ran on to finish in 28.87. He missed the top three by a single length.
Inishowen Nikki (6-1) had a clear run, but it was not enough to propel her into one of the top three positions. She finished a ½ length behind Lisneal Blue in 28.91. Rounding out the pack
was Tornaroy Tevez (6-1), who finished last after baulking first. He lost 1¾ lengths as a result, finishing with a time of 29.05.
The second A3 race saw Unknown State (3-1) emerge as the winner after starting well from trap three. He would go on to lead the run in, completing the race in 28.69. Allowdale Romeo (7-2)
moved quickly away from the pack and led the run in to finish a ½ length behind the winner in 28.73.
Shanbally Spark (4-1) was the third-place finisher. He crowded fourth en route to a 28.87 finish that placed him 1¾ lengths out of second place. Smooth Fall, the 12-1 long shot, took fourth
place after bumping first. She finished 1½ lengths out of the top three in with her time of 28.99.
Fifth place belonged to Black Titan (5-1), who stumbled halfway and bumped fourth. He finished the race in 29.21, which placed him 2¾ lengths behind Smooth Fall. Elwick Pria, the 9-4 favourite,
had a difficult run today. She crowded at the first bend, and lost 6 ½ lengths as a result. She went on to finish the race in last place, posting a time of 29.73.
Greyhound racing returns to Tetley’s Sunderland Greyhound Stadium on Wednesday 24 November. The next meeting begins with an A8 race at 18:39.
