A4 race at Nottingham produces close finish from joint favourites
The Nottingham Greyhound Stadium  is a place where champions are made. Each 500m race guarantees a winner, and the winners often finish the races in fine form, much to the delight of the
racing fans in attendance.
Nottingham also specializes in excitement, and the A4 race that began Tuesday’s racing day had a great deal of that. The top two finishers were a pair of 5-2 joint favourites, with one
of them pulling of a very close victory. Pakefield Tom emerged victorious in this race after a bounding start from trap three. He led second en route to a 31.15 second finish, and raced very well overall. Fellow joint favourite Capla Mac had a clear run and
finished second in 31.17, missing the win by only a neck’s length.
Third place went Murlens Sizzler (3-1). She also had a clear run, and she used it to her advantage to finish the race in 31.20, which was a neck behind Capla Mac. Shes So Smart, the 7-1
long shot, placed fourth in 31.38, which placed her 2¼ lengths out of the top three. Behind her by a head was Hollyoak Dali (4-1) who baulked first to take fifth place in 31.39. Finally, Salacres Penske (6-1) experienced some difficulties in this race. He
crowded and fell at first, which resulted in a 31.39 finish for last place.
Salacres Penske may have had some problems in the A4 race, but Salacres Whyte (3-1), another member of the Salacres pedigree, had no trouble at all winning the A3 race that followed. He
led fourth to complete the race in 31.04. Matching Salacres Whyte’s winning time was 2-1 favourite Salacres Nova, a third carrier of the Salacres name. Her clear run allowed her to finish in second place by a shoulder.
Mover Over Dada (7-1) led to fourth, but couldn’t move into first place. He ran to a third-place finish in 31.30, which placed his 3¼ lengths out of the number two position. Hanley Return
(4-1) was another dog who’d had a clear run, but he failed to make the top three. His time of 31.38 gave him fourth place, and was one length out of third.
The bottom two finishers both experienced some crowding on the run in. The Other Nikki (9-2) ran to a 31.66 finish that was 3 ½ lengths out of fourth place. Sixth place was claimed by
Romeo Orourke (3-1), who was a head behind in 31.68.
Results like these are a regular occurrence at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium, and the dogs will entertain again on Friday. The first race of the evening will be held at 18:28.
