AAA and AA Scouting?

If you play AAA hockey will you be exposed to more scouts than playing AA hockey? I am very confused because my previous AA coach says that you'll be seen by the same amount of scouts in AA like AAA. my AAA coach does say that you'll be scouted more playing AAA.

I just turned 16 and i live in California. I've made it on a 16AAA and an 18AA team before. So this year i get the chance o try out for either 18AA agian or 16AAA. What do you think?

  1. I've never seen you play...but if you did pretty good at those levels, then you have a chance...work hard and never stop trying.

  2. Speaking as a retired NHL scout (almost 30 years)..........you will get scouted FAR more playing AAA than AA.  Your AA coach is telling you that in an attempt to keep you in his team.  As a scout, I attended very few AA level games, and when I did, I was often the only NHL scout in attendance, and the number of junior and NCAA scouts was quite low as well.  When I attended AAA games, often there was at aleast one other NHL scout, as well as several junior scouts and NCAA scouts.  My educated guess is that there are about 5x as many scouts at AAA level tournaments than AA tournaments.
