  1. Well, my rats love bananas. ;P They go wild for them, so maybe you could try that, especially since it has such a strong scent to attract them. Dry cereal, like Cheerios or Total are also good.

  2. Cheese! and some guinea pig pellets!

i used to have a mouse in my garage

and i wanted it to have a better home

and i used fake cheese but instead it

ate my guinea pigs food that was in the garage

so i put real cheese and guinea pigs food and i

    caught it XD

    Good Luck

  3. Anything at all. Rats will eat whatever. Just be a little careful - wild rats can be dangerous.

  4. You can use any of the following:

    ~Apples

    ~Carrots

    ~Tomatos

    ~Celery

    ~Cabbage

    ~Lettuce

    ~Broccoli

    And peanut butter, too.

Good luck! And be careful with the humane traps, I used one once to catch a rat once and he crawled up my leg!

  5. Banana was a good suggestion.  Others include peanut butter or small amounts of cheese.  Peanut butter is very smelly and attracts all types of small animals, so it makes an excellent bait.

Thanks for using a live trap!  You might want to take the rat farther away than your woods in your backyard.  Rats are good at locating where they've been before if they are nearby.  People recommend at least a mile away.

Check out this site (specifically the "How, when, and where to relocate rats" section) for more help:

Hope that helps and good luck catching him/her!

  6. peanut butter! they will smell it instantly

  7. Try some things that have a strong smell. Mostly any food is okay. Don't kill the rat.

  8. my rat loves american cheese. Just put half a slice in there, they'll smell it and eat it up!  My rat also eats dog food as his regular diet.

P.S thanks for catching it humanely!  (but I also understand why people use traps.  Because Fact: wild rats aren't as nice as house rats! Good luck!

  9. Our traps have worked well with chocolate.

Don't panic too much, there will always be rats, unfortunately. In cities, you can always find one within 10 metres of you. It's just one of those things.
