http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 admires Hashim Amla’s great run of form – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers, the South African limited-overs skipper, is over the moon after an emphatic victory against England in the second One Day International (ODI) of the series and was all praise for Hashim Amla, who turned out to
be the difference between the two sides.
The visitors, who grabbed the top Test ranking earlier this month, became the best ODI team as well after smashing the home team by 80 runs at Southampton.
Having won the toss and opting to bat first, the South Africans posted a mammoth 288-run target for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, in the very first over of the
innings for a duck.
Cook’s opening partner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 all the way, proving their mettle as the
best team in the game’s three formats.
The South African victory was set up by none other than http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557, who blasted the English bowling attack to all corners of the ground, scoring 150 runs off merely 124 balls, which included 16 boundaries.
While expressing his views during the presentation ceremony, the Proteas’ skipper said that the opening batsman is turning out to be a real asset for the side, scoring huge runs in Tests as well as in the ODIs. De Villiers mentioned
that he tinkered with the batting order just because his team was dominating the proceedings.
"Hashim's on fire at the moment, he's breaking all sorts of records and hopefully that can continue well into the future. We were just trying different combinations, left-hand, right-hand combinations against the spinners, we
change things [with the order] according to the situation," he said.
The skipper was happy with the flat batting conditions at Southampton and also wants to continue improving as a unit.
"The wicket played well, we thought it might break up a bit more but the spinners did well. We lost wickets at quick intervals in the middle, fielding wasn't perfect, so lots to work on," de Villiers added. "We're proud but
there are lost of ODIs played and we're working towards winning a World Cup and staying No. 1."
