Keen to get rid of the chokers’ tag attached with South African cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887, the captain of the 50-over format, believes that his team has the potential to win global events in future.
Apart from the inaugural edition of the Champions Trophy in 1998 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, the Proteas have never won a global event, despite the fact that they have been among the top international teams over the last couple of decades.
Due to their history of failing to perform well in pressure situations in global events, the Proteas are known as chokers in the cricket community.
While speaking about his team’s chances in the forthcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013, the wicketkeeper batsman expressed that his side is working hard to prove their critics wrong in the tournament.
De Villiers said, “We haven't won an ICC trophy yet even though we are the No.1 Test team in the world but I've got a feeling there are a few to come in the next few years. We are just going to have to wait patiently. We are doing the small things right.
The work ethic is there, the talent is there and the belief is there, so we've just got to go out there and give it our best shot.”

The middle-order batsman also admitted that his team has a responsibility to live up to the expectations of their fans.
