Speaking at a press conference in London, de Villiers admitted that the experienced duo will be missed in the tournament. However, he said that this provides an opportunity to young players to step up and press their claims for a permanent place in the side, adding that there is very good energy in the team.
“Graeme and Jacques will be missed experience-wise,” said the South African skipper. “But I like to look at things in a positive way. There is a lot of energy coming in a guy like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Lawson-Miller-c53037. We saw him in many games in the T20-League...he brings a lot of confidence to the team.”

Smith was ruled out of the Champions Trophy last month due to a recurring ankle injury. Cricket South Africa has called up Alviro Petersen as replacement for Smith.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Petersen-c1028 comes in with a lot of experience,” said De Villiers, who was appointed as South Africa’s limited overs skipper in June 2011. “He's shown before in the shorter division that he can play the game really well.”
“It's nice to have those two guys on the team. So I look at it from a positive perspective and I feel we have a great energy and great mix on the team,” he added further.
The seventh and last edition of the ICC Champions Trophy begins at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Thursday, June 6, with a match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
