http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, the South African coach, has made it clear that the middle-order batsman, AB de Villiers, will continue to keep wickets in the Test series against England and also praised his side’s batting strength in the longer version
of the sport.
The Proteas landed in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and company. They seem to be right on track after winning the first of the three-match series at the
Oval by an innings and 12 runs.
The visitors faced a massive setback early on the tour, losing their ace wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843.
Boucher’s teammate at Cape Province, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thami-Tsolekile-c2662, was named as his replacement before the Oval Test; however, De Villiers was handed over the responsibility to keep wickets, in order to enhance the team’s batting strength.
Kirsten, the former South African cricketer, has revealed that the team management has no plans of making any changes in the team, although the limited-overs skipper (De Villiers) dropped a crucial catch in the second innings and
allowed some byes to go through.
The Proteas’ mentor however, thinks that the 28-year-old did a commendable job, considering the fact that he was keeping in Test cricket after a long time.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 was the reserve keeper for this tour, so there would be no reason to suggest why he wouldn't keep in the next one," Kirsten said. "I thought he kept really well. It was not easy out there, especially with the spinner."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 just lost two wickets in the match (having scored 637 for 2), which is extremely satisfying for Kirsten, who praised his team’s top-order batsmen and believes that England will find it hard to dismiss the Proteas, who
bat very deep.
"We've got some real class in out batting line up. We've got guys with a lot experience and guys who enjoy batting a lot. They don't give their wickets away; they take pride in spending a lot of time at the crease. It was particularly
satisfying as a coach to see that," he added.
