ABC Daycare , Newport KY?

Question

My sister is sending my 18 month old niece here and we would like to know if anyone has used this center. I only found one review on the internet and its not good. We want to know if they take good care of the children? What types of activities they do? Basically a review from teachers who work there or a parent whose child goes there?

Or at least someone who's licensed through DCFS!!

Observe a class.  If they won't let you observe a class in progress, find another preschool.  if they will let you observe, watch for cleanliness, availability of age-appropriate materials for the children to use, adequate numbers of teachers for the children enrolled (for this age-range, there should probably be about 1 adult for every 6 children), and staff/child interaction.  Both children and staff should appear to be happy and actively engaged.  Children should have time to play independently and time to interact with adults.  Talk with the staff and ask them about the schedule and the activities.  There should be some time every day for the children to play outside, and at this age, there should not be a lot of structured, organized group activities.  The children should have plenty of time to explore and use the materials independently, with adults there to supervise, support and interact.  Language is very important at this age, so the children should be exposed to lots of music and appropriate conversation.  Staff should be talking to and with the children all the time!  Trust your instincts.  If something seems innappropriate, check into another program in your area.
