ABTA predicts 12 percent Brits will leave country during London Olympics 2012
According to the results released recently of a research study conducted by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), there are a total of 12 percent British nationals who want to leave the country during the time the London 2012 Olympic Games will
grace the capital of England.
The research study conducted by the ABTA took into account the views of a total of 2018 adult British nationals who were picked at random. The general trend that was seen in the study showed that a majority of the elderly people will opt to make their way
overseas when the Olympics are held.
A total of 22 percent of the people who were the age of 65 and above stated their intention to move out of the country in order to avoid the Olympic Games event.
Not only that, in the bracket of ages between 55 and 64, the percentage of people who wanted out during the Olympic Games were 18.
Apart from that, those part of the study who are not going to go out of the country during the Olympic Games but intend to find a spot within the country that will not be affected by the international sporting event total to be 9 percent of the adults taken
into the consideration of the research study.
Victoria Bacon, who is the head of communications at ABTA, expressed herself on the matter by making the following statements, “With only six months to go until one of the biggest sporting events in our country’s history, it’s clear that hundreds of thousands,
especially the young, will be taking time off to enjoy London 2012. However, for those who don’t love sports or want to escape the crowds, going abroad will provide a welcome alternative.”
The London 2012 Olympic Games are heading towards the city of London for the third time in the history of the capital of England and it has been promised by the organisers of the event that the Games are going to be the best ones yet.
The theme of the Olympic Games 2012 this time around is environment friendly.
