AC Ace rear brake drums

  1. You are quite right the fins on the AC Drum are very fragile, though the advice given for removal of the drum is incorect.

    1. un wind the adjuster on the back plate and slacken off the hand brake.

    2. un do the  8 nuts that fix the drum to the hub, don't worry these are studs and are retained in the hub it's self, You do not need to undo the nut in the centre of the splined hub.

    3. by hand rock the drum back and forth to lossen from the hub and work the drum off. Be careful not to get the drum at to much of an angle so that it binds on the shoes. with a little work the drum should come away leaving the hub intact.
