Question:

AC Adapter question?

I'm trying to find an adapter that works really well. I don't know how to determine it's strength, but I'm looking for an adapter with an input: 120V and output:9V. What numbers attached to the input and output should I look for?

  1. I had a box of old ones that I tried to get rid of at a yard sale.  No one bought them.  I called the township to pick them up with some other old electronics that could be properly disposed/recycled.

If the current (amps) rating is too low, the voltage will get loaded down.

If the voltage is too high your device will fry.

In the US you almost always get 110/115/120 VAC input.

  2. Go directly to Radio Shack!  Do not pass Go!  Do not collect $200!  Oh yeah!  Take your device that needs the power source with you!  They will match it up for you and all will be well.  (smiling)

  3. I think you have answered your own question. It will read input 120 volts ac output 9 volts dc and an amperage. I don't think the amperage is that important as long as the output is more than the draw.

  4. you need to know how many milliamps (or amps) the device will output (seen on the adapter as Mah - 1000 Mah = 1 amp)

take a look at the tips as well making sure they are the same size and that the same polarity is used. +--(o-- - is the out side ring is positive and the in side is negative... converely

    - --(o-- + is the outside ring is negative and the inside ring is positive.
