  1. You need your climate control system inspected.  Probably the actuator motors (or the gears connected to them) aren't working properly to shut off the flow of hot coolant to the heater core.

Expect to be in for a grand to get it fixed, as it involves opening up a lot of stuff.  Had a similar problem on a 2000 Deville

  2. Many things can cause this but unfortunately if your A/C unit is still original it has R-12 freon in it so recharging it will cost more than the car is worth (R-12 has not been made for 14 years so the remaining supply is rare & expensive). Most of the likely culprits will involve recharging the system after the repair.

If the compressor or clutch failed you can replace it with a R-134a model and replace the dryer, then recharge with the new freon but even if the problem was just a bad hose the compressor & dryer will have to be done to switch to R-134a.

In short, if someone before you did not already change the system over to the new freon there is not going to be a cheap way out of this.

Sorry about the news, good luck! maybe it will just be the heater valve stuck open!

  3. sounds like u need your ac system recharged with Freon

  4. There is a switch that controls the air flow flap allowing it to have air that passes through the heater core or air conditioning. If you are lucky it is cause by a loose or disconnected control cable. Half hour labour charge.

IT IS POSSABLE THAT the controls that open and close the heater / air conditioner blending door are defective. The part is moderate in price, Can not remember exact amount although I would guess under $50.oo Canadian. ( If it is any more then that check the auto wreckers for price.)

The sad part is that the labour will most likely be more expensive than the part approximately twice to three times as much:(

However this is a part that paying the dealer auto repair shop might be more practical in the long run as many control components are exposed when accessing the controls. If they mess up the radio or anything else in the area of the controls they will have to repair it and who better should know their way around. Unless you know a very meticulous jobber or mechanic. NO BUTTER KNIFE CHARLIE's PLEASE!

    Good luck, Hope this helps.

  5. The a/c probably needs recharging $9 if you do it yourself  (it's not hard). About the air blowing when it's off either the radiator fan is blowing air into the vents (not really able to stop it enless you know exactly where the air is entering) or something could be messed up in the wiring cousing the fan to come on all the time (not very likely).

  6. I'm not sure if your a/c unit is working or not,if the clutch is'nt coming on when you turn it on then you may need two add some freon, but the reason you could be getting hot air into your car could be that the heater water valveis stick open or the heater valve cable could have came off.The heater valve is under the hood on one of the heater hose's,if you can find the two heater hose's you will see it easy.Your slide inside of your car that move's from cold air to hot air as a cable hooked to it that runs back to the water heater valve,it might not be moving it when you move the slide on the inside of your car.So be sure to check that out first, you mat need someone to help you slide it while your watching to see if it moving. Good luck to you.

  7. bypass heater core and install hose to reconnect the lines under the hood so it will still circulate that system. so as to not hamper with the water flow!
