The Rossoneri chief insists that he prefers staying ahead of the Bianconeri but states the championship will remain long.
Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that despite the Fiorentina debacle, his team are still on road to retaining the Scudetto this season.
AC Milan suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina, which when combined with Juventus’s 2-0 triumph over Palermo, has seen the Old Lady go from two points down to a point in the lead, in the two-horse race to the Scudetto.
The Rossoneri manager admitted that although he would have preferred to stay in the lead rather than trail behind, but insisted that the swapped position do not mean an end to the championship duel. The tactician insisted that the competition has been tough
for the Old Lady, and the challenge will only ascend from this point onwards.
While talking to the press, the Diavolo boss said:
“I would have preferred to stay out in first place rather than have to chase, but it doesn’t mean that the Scudetto race is over. The championship was long for Juventus when they were behind us and we were in front. It’s still long now.”
The Milan outfit managed to take an early lead against the Tuscans, but the Viola retaliated with goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Amauri-c5381.
The Rossoneri manager insisted that the difficulties in the game were mostly due to the troublesome surface of the pitch, and admitted that the Viola outperformed them in the match. The manager pointed out that their strength in the match was further depleted
by unfortunate injuries, but insisted that there is no reason for them to end as the runners-up in Serie A.
“I’m not worried. We had difficulties on Saturday because the pitch didn’t make things easy for us. We were up against a Fiorentina side who played well and we were not at our best. We have injuries and suspensions, but that is no excuse. We want to win
the championship.”
The Diavolo will look to start the climb to the one-point lead with a game against Chievo Verona, on Saturday.  Allegri insisted that a comeback in the upcoming league game is of paramount importance to the team after the slip-up, and urged his team to expect
a strong challenge from the relegation threatened side.
