http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adriano-c3773 Galliani has stated that the verdict although late is a good development, and believes that football cannot do without the goal-line technology.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is pleased about FIFA’s decision to authorize the use of goal-line technology in football, and believes that it is about time that the equipment is made compulsory in the game of football.
The International Football Association Board recently voted in favour of introducing the ball tracking technology, which will aid the match officials in determining goal-line decisions.
The hype was built up around the issue after a number of high-profile cases including Frank Lampard’s goal against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, which was disallowed because the referee failed to spot the ball crossing the line.
Moreover, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 was also disallowed an important goal against the Three Lions in Euro 2012, and the matter was put to a lot of debate on conclusion of the European tournament.
FIFA have now agreed to use a goal-line technology to assist their referees, however, they are still to decide on which of the two technologies, Hawk-Eye or GoalRef, to use.
Galliani was appreciative of the step taken by the international football body, but maintained that the technology should have been introduced much earlier into the game.
The Rossoneri chief stated that while discrepancies in decisions relating to offside and bookings are tolerable, it is frustrating when the ball enters the goal but is still not allowed by the referee.
The Diavolo vice-president reminded the incident of Sully Muntari’s disallowed goal, that had a considerable impact on deciding the Champions of Serie A in 2011-12 season.
In a recent interview, the 67-year-old said:
“Better late than never, as they say. How long has it been happening in tennis? Football cannot do without hawk-eye. Decisions on offside and other questionable situations of the game are always accepted, but when the ball enters the goal then we must intervene.
I do not want you to forget the image of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sulley-Muntari-c34312 goal that I always have on my phone.”
Muntari’s shot crossed the line in AC Milan’s derby match against Juventus, but the goal was disallowed by the referee who failed to spot it.
