AC Milan bid for Robinho with arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic; possible transfer of Marco Borriello
The Italian club AC Milan has officially announced that they are placing a bid for the world class Brazilian striker Robinho, who is currently playing at Manchester City.
Silvio Berlusconi, the owner of AC Milan, another San Siro-based club apart from Inter Milan, has stated that the Rossoneri have strong intentions of signing Robinho.
All through the summers, Brazilian international Robinho has been demanding an exit from Eastlands, but there hasn’t been much progress on the matter, primarily because of The Citizens’ refusal to discuss any propositions on the player’s transfer.
Manchester City earlier told Robinho that the club did not require his services in the squad; therefore, he will be loaned out to another club. Even then, there were poor chances of him landing with another club.
After this, Robinho pleaded to a couple of big clubs to buy him out but Manchester United denied all bids. The latest on the issue prior to his calling from AC Milan was a bid from the Turkish club Fenerbahce but now the bid seems to have dissolved.
Now that Berlusconi has acquired the services of Barcelona’s striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he would be looking forward to his new arrival. While talking to the media, Berlusconi said: “If a certain player interests us and is functional to our needs then we will be ready for another hit”.
On the signing of Robinho, Berlusconi said, “It doesn't depend on us, if it depended on us... Milan's intentions are there.
“Where could he (Robinho) play? We have so many possibilities and then it's better to have three players for two roles,” he added.
On the other hand, Italian forward Marco Borriello is reckoning a transfer out from AC Milan as he thinks he will be shadowed by Ibrahimovic’s arrival.
Ibra will definitely be in the starting line-up and with talented players like Alexandre Pato, Ronaldinho, Filippo Inzaghi and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, 28-year old Borriello has reservations about his future at the club. He has stated that the line-up is pretty skilful and talented; therefore, he will not be able to spend his desired amount of time on field.
Borriello commented on Ibra’s arrival saying, “Zlatan's arrival? He is a great champion but with his arrival there will be limited playing time. I have to evaluate my future well and speak to the club and my agent because right now I'm at the high point of my career.”
Last season, Borriello capped 29 appearances for AC Milan in which he scored 14 goals. This summer, he has been heavily linked with a transfer to Juventus.
