AC Milan chase Ajax Amsterdam wingback Urby Emanuelson
AC Milan’s defensive woes, especially in the wing back region are no secret, and Massimiliano Allegri looks to be in hunt for a young full back. After fruitless attempts at signing Domenico Criscito and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Reto-Ziegler-c30895 from CFC Genoa and UC Sampdoria respectively,
AC Milan are reportedly hot on trail of Ajax Amsterdam youngster Urby Emanuelson. Rossoneri CEO, Adriano Galliani, had revealed that negotiations with Genoese clubs have been closed due to excessive asking prices.
Emanuelson, although a winger by nature, has played as a wing back for the Amsterdammers in the past. The 24-year-old’s contract with his childhood club is set to expire this June, and latest reports indicate that the player has refused to ink a new deal.
The player wants to further his career by moving to a more competitive league, and a move to Serie A giants will fit the bill perfectly. Since the player will be a free agent come the end of season, Ajax hierarchy has decided to cash-in on the player, albeit
on a cut price deal.
The highly rated starlet made his senior debut for Ajax in 2004, and has appeared in 192 games for the club, scoring 19 goals in the process. Prior to Marco van Basten’s appointment in 2008, Urby played as a winger, but Van Basten moved the starlet into
a more defensive position. The Ajax youth product is not the soundest of players when it comes to defending, and Martin Jol duly reinstated the player into a more advanced position upon his arrival.
AC Milan already have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Urby-Emanuelson-c35731 will certainly come as a surprise to many. Rossoneri are severely lacking in left footed players. Perhaps
Urby’s left footed nature has aroused the interest of the club directors.
At this point in time, the involved parties; AC Milan, Emanuelson and Ajax Amsterdam, are yet to make any official statements, rendering the news as more of a speculation than a fact.
