for the Diavolo in front of a sellout crowd at San Siro, while Andre Cossu’s strike proved be a mere consolation for Cagliari.
Inzaghi was greeted by a standing ovation from Milan supporters as he took the pitch once again after spending a major part of the season on the sidelines due to a knee ligament injury sustained in November, 2010.
The player could not have picked a better time for his return to first team action as Milan had their trophy presentation after mathematically sealing the 2011 league title last weekend. The Rossoneri overcame the challenge of second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan to
win the Scudetto for the 18th time.
Over the years, Inzaghi has been instrumental for Milan; the player’s record of 125 goals in 290 appearances is certainly an impressive tally.
Aged 37, Inzaghi is in the twilight of his career. Nevertheless, the striker’s desire to remain a Milan player has not diminished.
He said, "I want to end my career at Milan. I must thank the coach, club, my team-mates and the supporters for making me feel like I am almost a footballer again.
"I have a very good chance of staying as the issue is not economic and Milan have given me so much. If we have the usual connection and mutual respect, then I will continue to play in this shirt." Added the Italian.
Furthermore, Inzaghi maintains that he has an emotional bond with the club and praised the Milan fans for their support and enthusiasm as thousands gather at the Piazza Duomo to celebrate Milan’s league triumph.
The former Italian International’s contract expires at the end of the season but given Inzaghi’s past record with the club, AC Milan management should have no hesitation giving the player a new short-term deal.
