AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri says they deserved victory against Napoli
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has said that his side deserved the victory against Napoli on Monday at San Siro.
The Italian was delighted with the victory and said that his team is on its way to winning the Serie A title. City rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan were hoping for a draw but would be disappointed with the result as AC Milan are now five points clear at the top of the
table.
AC Milan defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 3-0 in a convincing victory at home in a crucial clash that could well have decided the title. Napoli were touted by many to win the match and prove to be a difficult opposition but they struggled from the start and eventually lost.
A win for the Naples side would have put them level on points with the Rossoneri. But second-half goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Pato-c4901 and Kevin Prince Boateng sealed the match for the Milan giants.
Allegri said that his team deserved the victory as the visitors only had one shot on goal in the whole match and they would have won regardless of the controversial penalty awarded to them in the second-half. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Aronica-c32276 looked to have handled the
ball but Allegri felt that the decision was a harsh one. The Italian added that Milan missed a lot of opportunities upfront and played the whole game in the away side’s half, dominating possession.
“We did very well in the first half, but we made a lot of errors in attack. I liked our character though, I’m happy with what the lads did, seeing as the boys played in Napoli’s half for 90 minutes,” said the former Napoli player.
Allegri insisted that players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robinho-c31382 and Kevin Prince Boateng were returning to full fitness and could play a major role in the Scudetto race for the Milanese side.
“I’m happy with the win but also because my injured players are coming back to full fitness. Some important elements are returning. Boateng is the kind of player who can break a game open when he comes on, just like Robinho did against Parma when he came
on and as Pato did last Sunday,” the manager said.
AC Milan sit at the top of the table with 58 points and are five points ahead of their rivals Inter Milan. But the title race is still not over as the Rossoneri take on Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin on the weekend whereas the Nerazzurri face Genoa
at home.
