AC Milan rekindle their interest in Paris Saint-Germain starlet Mamadou Sakho
According to latest media reports, Italian Serie A giants AC Milan have reignited their interest in PSG starlet Mamadou Sakho. AC Milan has been looking to strengthen their defence for the last couple of seasons. The Rossoneri acquired the services of Sokratis
Papastathopoulos and Mario Yepes earlier in the summer.
Reports suggest that the Rossoneri hierarchy has been sending its scouts to monitor the growth of the French wonder kid and apparently, Milan’s directors have been left impressed. AC Milan’s defensive woes are no secret. The retirement of legendary skipper
Paolo Maldini coupled with the constant injury woes of Alessandria Nesta have left the club in shambles at times. Milan acquired American defender Oguchi Onyewu last year but the former Standard Liège man was injured for the entire season. Mario Yepes and
Papastathopoulos were acquired but the two have hardly featured in the starting eleven. Many believe the Milan directors are not happy with the ability of the two and the club is now in the transfer market once again looking for cover.
Benfica’s David Luiz and Sakho are transfer targets. However, Manchester City has also expressed its interest in the Brazilian. It is very unlikely that Milan would be able to match the financial prowess of the Eastlanders.
AC Milan were interested in the PSG starlet two seasons ago but the youngster signed a new contract with the club. Sakho has been the captain of all French Youth teams and his ability on the ball defies his tender age. The player was also given the captain’s
armband at Paris Saint-Germain last year and the youngster has already been called up to make his national team debut.
AC Milan will look to replace the legendary Alessandro Nesta with Sakho. Nesta is 34 years of age and doesn’t have many years left in his legs. The Rossoneri wish to partner Thiago Silva and Sakho in the heart of the defence, an early transfer will ensure
that much of Nesta’s wisdom is translated in to Sakho.
