The Palermo midfielder feels that Milan were by far the better side on the night, but stated that the margin of defeat was a little too much to take for the Sicilian club.
AC Milan were emphatic in their 4-0 win over the Rosanero, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 came back from his suspension with some style.
The Swede scored a hat-trick in the first 35 minutes of the match, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903 rounded off the scoring with a towering header to make it a resounding victory for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Former Rossoneri midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Massimo-Donati-c24582, insists that he could not have dreamt of such a bad result for Palermo.
While talking to the reporters, Donati said:
“Milan are a great team and we knew we were going to be playing one of the best teams in the world. A defeat against Milan we can take, but a 4-0 is a little too heavy.”
However, the Italian feels that despite the humbling done by the Diavolo on his side, there are still some positives to take from the match. Reflecting on the game, Donati believes that the Rosanero can learn
from the performance put in by the Italian Champions, suggesting a need to play at a higher tempo.
The former Rossoneri man was appreciative of the support from the Palermo fans, stating:
“I want to thank the fans, even though we went to the dressing room after the final whistle because we were upset, we heard them.”
Donati accepted the defeat to Milan, and insists that the better team on the day won the match. However, the central-midfielder is still hurt with his team’s recent defeat to Siena, and believes Palermo should have won that match,
as they failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
He reckoned:
“The defeat to Siena, instead, is a game we are more frustrated about where we could have won, but things went wrong.”
Palermo’s next game in the Serie A will be against AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in week 27 of the campaign on Saturday, March 10.
