AC Milan have reportedly targeted Benfica’s Javier Saviola to fill the void by Brazilian superstar, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-c30950 Kaka. The Rossoneri have never been the same force since the departure of the attacking midfielder and are now turning their attention towards Saviola to replicate Kaka’s feats at San Siro.
Italian giants, AC Milan, were once the strongest club in Europe. With their attacking brand of football, they used to tear apart opponents and were considered to be the best of the best in the UEFA Champions League.
At the hub of the club’s success was Ricardo Kaka, the magical Brazilian who earned the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year for his sensation performances.
The Selecao International signed for AC Milan in 2003 and began his ascendency to the highest echelons of football. Gifted with outrageous vision and an uncanny ability to find the back consistently, Kaka become the fulcrum of the San Siro outfit and took them to the top of Europe in 2007.
His performances continued until 2009, when he momentarily become the world’s most expensive player after Spanish side, Real Madrid, agreed to acquire his services in a €68.5 million deal.
With his sale to Los Blancos, Milan lost their momentum and have since fallen from grace. Despite acquiring the likes of Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimović and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robinho-c31382 in recent seasons, the Italian outfit have never scaled their previous European heights.
In order to regain their lost pride, Silvio Berlusconi is reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica’s Javier Saviola.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in his career.
Currently plying his trade at Estadio da Luz, slowly but surely Saviola is nearing the end of his playing days but he can still be of some value to other sides. As he plays as a striker, he could potentially be moulded into an attacking midfielder to replace the Brazilian maestro.
With his youthful days far behind him, the forward will not command a hefty transfer fee and could be available on the cheap. A change of scenery would also be attractive for Saviola, who has not made the best of impressions in Lisbon.
However AC Milan will face tough competition for his signature, as the likes of Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Jazira-c38263 are reported to be in the race to sign the former Real Zaragoza man. But the Italians boast a rich history and grandiose ambitions, something which could tip the transfer in their favour.
With everything panning out, it looks set to be an interesting transfer window for Javier Saviola.
