The Rossoneri manager insists that his team will continue to fight for the Scudetto until it is mathematically over; admits to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 handball
Milan limped to a 1-0 win over Genoa at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, April 25. The hosts had to toil hard to secure the win, as Kevin Prince Boateng’s 86th minute winner kept them afloat in the title race.
Juventus’ victory over Cesena the same day meant that the Turin giants remain atop of the league standings. With only four matches left to play until the end of the season, Allegri has vowed to fight until the very last moment.
The Rossoneri boss is relieved to register a win, and hails it as an important victory in terms of the title race.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri said:
“Until the mathematical possibilities are wiped out, we will continue to believe and try to fight back. The pessimism is around us, but not within the team. If Juventus reach 86 points then it means they have deserved the title.
We’ll have to wait and see. It is a pity that we have dropped five points on home turf, but we were coming off months at full tilt. The important thing was to win and keep the Scudetto race alive. I believe something can still happen.”
The former Cagliari boss also hailed the performances of Genoa, and admitted that the result could have been different had the referee awarded them the penalty for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-c4710 Nesta’s handball offence.
“It was a penalty, looking at the footage. Genoa did well on a tactical level today and did not allow us any space.”
Both Milan and Juventus have relatively easier options to play in the remaining matches of the season, and the Rossoneri will be hoping for a miracle to happen. Stats do not favour the Champions, as the Old Lady are yet to register
their first defeat of the league season.
Allegri’s men will travel to Siena for their next match on Sunday, April 29, while Antonio Conte’s side will make a trip to Novara the same day.
