Massimiliano Allegri has urged his team to forget about the Scudetto, and get ready to face a stiff competition against Genoa in the upcoming league match.
The Rossoneri recently lost their supremacy at the top of the league, and trail Juventus by one-point in the race to Serie A title.
The Rossoneri coach insisted that they cannot afford any lapse of concentration in the remaining few matches of the league, and stated that the team will have to put a strong display against Genoa in order to capture the crucial
three points. The tactician noted that despite their recent slump in the league standings, the team supports a lot of talent in its squad.
The Diavolo manager predicted that the Grifone will play with their attacking style of play, and has urged his team to give their best from the first whistle until the last of the match. He insisted that results of the recent
Cagliari and Fiorentina matches cannot be allowed to repeat themselves in the upcoming clash against the Gialloblu.
“We’ll have to play well tomorrow and with force, not as we have against Fiorentina or Chievo. Genoa have quality players in spite of their position in the table. It is not easy, but this game will require full concentration for
90 minutes. I think that for their characteristics, Genoa will play openly.”
When asked if the coach has any regret of the controversial disallowed goal against Juventus, he stated that the time is not to look back but to focus ahead. He insisted that there are still games left in the league, and the team
must concentrate on getting three points from each of these matches to return back to the top of the table.
“At the moment it is significant, but we’re not thinking of what might have been, there are games left to play. We think of tomorrow, to take three points and return to the top of the table.”
Allegri stated that AC Milan are still playing for the league championship, and insisted that peace of mind will be decisive in determining the winner of the Scudetto.
