The Dutch international feels that the Rossoneri are definitely one of the favourites to win the European crown, provided they stay injury free.
The Dutch midfielder is buoyant about his team’s chances in the UEFA Champions League, stating, “AC Milan can win the Champions League”.
Emanuelson claimed this after the Rossoneri humiliated Arsenal 4-0 in the first-leg of last 16 round at the San Siro. The Rossoneri have one foot in the quarter-finals of the competition, as it would take nothing short of a miracle
for the North London side to come back from such a big deficit.
The injury troubles faced by the Italian Champions have been well publicised with a number of their key players having to spend a spell on the sidelines. However, Emanuelson is of the opinion that the Diavolo are strong candidates
for the Champions League trophy, should they stay free of injury concerns.
Speaking about the contenders for the European title, he remarked:
"Everyone talks about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Madrid, but if we always play like tonight we could win this competition.”
The former Ajax man is full of praise for striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, who was phenomenal in the match against Arsenal. The Swede was a menace for the Gunners defence, as he scored a goal and had two assists, too.
"We played wonderfully tonight, and Ibra was amazing," said the 25-year-old to Goal.com
However, the midfielder acknowledged that injuries had played their part in Milan’s inconsistent form and their inability to capitalise in the matches played.
The 25-year-old drew his attention to the impact http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Prince-Boateng-c20792 made in the match, stating:
"You have to consider that we still have a lot of injuries. Look what [Kevin-Prince] Boateng did after just coming back – that speaks volumes. When everyone is available for selection, I am sure we can win the Champions League."
The San Siro outfit will be travel to the Emirates Stadium for the reverse fixture of the tie on March 6th. The Serie A leaders will host A.C Cesena in their next league game at the weekend.
