AC Milan’s Clarence Seedorf insists footballers to be role models - Serie A News
AC Milan's midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275, has insisted that the footballers should behave in a manner as they are the role models for their fans. He said that footballers today are much more violent. There are only a few who stay away from these things and
focus entirely upon their game.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international believed that players have a bigger role to play on the field and of course, off the field. He mentioned that youngsters intend to take a leaf out of their books and it is necessary for the players to behave well in order
to leave a good impression.
Former Real Madrid man added, "We should take this role very seriously and we should be more careful with the way we behave on and off the pitch,” said Seedorf. “I believe that this is the role of football players in a modern society.
Seedorf joined the Rossoneri in 2002 and since then he has been a consistent performer for the Red and Blacks. Since landing at San Siro, the midfielder has managed to make 278 League appearances for the club so far which has seen him scoring 44 goals. He
also made 87 international appearances for the Dutch national side and bagged 11 goals.
The 35-year-old is regarded as a complete gentleman by his peers and fans and was hardly ever involved in any incident that could tarnish his image. The midfielder further mentioned, "You know that I take these things to heart, teaching something to kids
in a natural way. I hope that many other players will do the same, realising that this is our role and that can make a difference for a lot of people.”
Seedorf has already won the UEFA Champions League on four occasions. With Dutch Eredivisie side, Ajax, he won in 1995. In 1998, he won with Real Madrid and twice he achieved this feat with Milan in 2003 and 2007. He also bagged the UEFA’s best midfielder
award in 1997-98 and 2006-07. Seedorf was also named in Real Madrid’s team of the century in 2008.
