this unit is less than 2 years old. I went to the furnace to feel the copper lines..basically they are very close in temperature. you can feel one is slightly cooler than the other, but I think one should be very hot and one should be very cold. Am I REALLY low on freon? This shouldn't happen on a unit this new. under warranty, would you think?

  1. The larger line should be cool not cold, the smaller line should be 85-90 degrees. Take a TD of the system to see if it is low, turn on system a let run 10-15 mins. measure the room temp and measure the vent blowing cool air it should be around 18 degrees. Room 80 vent 62, and if low on gas two things happen oil does no move thru system well with low charge and compreeeor runs hot when low on gas.

  2. Yes you are probably low if part of the evap. coil doesn't drip condensate.Leaks can happen any time/anywhere(especially if installer was in a hurry).Once filled go spray around joints and Schroeder valve with leak detector(or kids bubble solution+water) However the correct way to check if working is to feel condenser exhaust air is hot
