ACA expressed serious doubts over the timings in UAE - Cricket News Update
The future of the upcoming series between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), is still uncertain after the Australian Cricketer’s Association (ACA) expressed serious reservations over the scheduling of the ODI fixtures.
The itinerary of the series has just been released which included three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 3 T20Is running from August 28 - September 10 with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as the venues.
The response came over the timings of the ODIs as the matches will start at 6 in the evening, and will finish by 1:45 am local time, prompting a harsh response from the ACA chief http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Marsh-c81144. “I'm not particularly comfortable with it, I'm not sure there's
much we can do,” he said
"We've spoken about it several times and they are certainly aware of our views on this issue. We're concerned about the heat and we're not comfortable with the playing hours,” Marsh told ESPNcricinfo.
The ACA chief said that they will ask for a feedback from their ODI players before assessing whether it will be safe to play the series in the given circumstances.
The Aussie further added that they are frustrated with the fact that UAE never hosted a series from June till September, which is the hottest period in the country, claiming that this series is not about cricket rather than “this tour has been put on for
commercial reasons.”
Pakistan decided to go ahead with the ODIs despite the International Cricket Council’s (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) approval of an unprecedented 6 T20Is, which could have made it the longest T20 series ever allowed by the governing body.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 refused to host the two teams, and UAE emerged as the only viable option. The tour can find itself in a deadlock if the hot and humid conditions could become a major objection for the Australian players.
“We're very conscious of the fact Pakistan have had a lot of challenges organising this series," the CA spokesman said. They wanted to play in Sri Lanka and that fell over. There was talk about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949 and that fell over. We sympathise and support what
they want to do,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 said.
